What time was Revelation 12:10?

Question:

I spoke with you last night regarding Rev. 12. You mentioned to me that this was before the crucifixion (clarification: I actually said that the first part of Revelation 12 and the verse in John 12 were before the cross), the Dragon/angels were casted out… I read John 12 which you said corresponded to Rev 12… I may have the wrong text, I don’t see the correlation. Can you clarify this?

Answer:

Good morning.
John 12:31 – “Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.”
Revelation 12:10 – “Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down.”
Does this help?

Spiritual warfare

We are in spiritual war. It’s obvious every day. Here’s what Paul says to do twice in one chapter, saying that with this we’ll be able to stand in the evil day:

“Put on the whole armor of God…” Ephesians 6:11, 13.

  • We need our loins girt about with truth – found in the Word: “Thy Word is truth…” (John 17:17)
  • We need the breastplate of righteousness – found in the Word: “The word of Thy righteousness…” (Psalm 119:123)
  • We need our feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace – found in the Word: “Hear the word of the gospel…” (Acts 15:7)
  • Above all, we need the shield of faith – found in the Word: “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God…” (Romans 10:17)
  • We need the helmet of salvation – found in the Word: “To you is the word of this salvation sent…” (Acts 13:26)
  • We need the sword of the Spirit – […]

Colossians 2:14-17 – Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances

Here is a PDF you can PRINT if you’d like: Colossians2_14-17.

Colossians 2:14-17

“Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.”

Revelation 4 thru 6 in Verse

Revelation 4 thru 6 in Verse:

Long ago on a bright blue stone,
sat the King of glory upon His throne.

Rainbow colors were about His face.
Darkness or evil? Not even a trace.

His servants did sing with joy, love, and fullness,
He astounded creation with all of His goodness.

He looked for One who could open the book—
His voice roared like thunder! The universe shook!

Not ONE? Nowhere? So who could it be?
I’ve looked above and below, but none could I see!

I broke, I fell, I cried and I wept,
when a Lion—a Lamb! Exceptional! Adept!

He stood up in lowliness, beauty and power,
with strength in His eyes, from whom evil did cower.

He reached with a hand, torn with a hole,
and took from the throne the most marvelous scroll,

Sealed with gems, jewels and glittering gold!
The Law of love He’s meant to uphold!

So Angels bore witness of His incredible journey,
through education in strife […]

Romans 3:19-23

Hello D,

I’ve been able to spend a little time looking at Romans 3:19-22 again. Here are a couple comments that may be helpful. I don’t remember what version you were using, so I’ve copied the KJV, but can look at another translation if you let me know which one that is as well.

Romans 3 starts out asking what advantage is there in being a Jew? (Notice Paul’s definition of a Jew: Rom. 2:28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: Rom. 2:29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.)

He asks in verse 9 if Jews are better than Gentiles… The answer is “No, in no wise.” Why? Because […]

Studying

I’ve been studying with a group nearby for over a year. We’ve been in Revelation going verse by verse… It’s been a BLESSING! We just finished the 16th chapter tonight, focusing on the “It is done” statement made by God.

What was done?

Look at the Sanctuary of the Old Testament… There were three compartments: the outer court, holy place and most holy place.

Jesus said it on the cross, said it at the end of His priestly ministry in Revelation 16, and says it the final time in 21:6 after the judgment is complete!

Put it all together!

Revelation 15

The other day I was studying with a group I meet with during the week. All but two of them (7-12) are not church going Christians.

We were reading and discussing Revelation 15… wow… One early-twenty’s-guy came back the next week and said something like, “Last weeks study hooked me. I want to come to church with you this coming weekend.”

He has lead a life without Christ so far, so praise God that he is listening to the Holy Spirit!
