John 6:27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

      • Question: If the Father sealed the Son, how are we sealed? (See 2 Corinthians 1:22, Ephesians 1:13, 4:30, and Galatians 4:6.)

1 Corinthians 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

      • Question: How many Gods are there and what is the title we have been given for that one God?

Galatians 1:1 Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)

      • Question: What two are referred to as making Paul an apostle?

Galatians 1:3 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ.

      • Question: Where does grace and peace come From here?

Ephesians 6:23 Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

      • Question: Where does love and faith came from here?

Philippians 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

      • Question: Confessing that Jesus is Lord brings glory to who?

1 Thessalonians 1:1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

      • Question: Today, how often do we hear about a church being in God the Father?

2 Timothy 1:2 To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

      • Question: From whence comes grace, mercy, and peace?

Titus 1:4 To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

1 Peter 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

      • Question: Who, according to this verse has foreknowledge? Does the Bible ever ascribe this to anyone else? (Do your homework on this one.)

2 Peter 1:17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

      • Question: Christ received honour and glory from the Father when He said what to Him?

2 John 3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

      • Question: Why do you suppose John reiterated that Christ is “the Son of the Father?”

Jude 1 Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called.

      • Question: Who did Jude believe sanctified the saints he was writing to?

Romans 15:6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

      • Question: Who are we to glorify?

2 Corinthians 1:3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort.

      • Question: There’s a blessing to who? God is the Father of Christ, the Father of __________, and the God of all what?

2 Corinthians 11:31 The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is blessed for evermore, knoweth that I lie not.

      • Question: Paul said God was blessed for how long?

Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.

      • Question: Who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in the gift of Christ?

Ephesians 3:14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

      • Question: Who was Paul bowing His knees to?

Colossians 1:3 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you.

      • Question: Who did Paul give thanks to?

1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

      • Question: God is both the God and Father of who? Who has begotten us again?

My Beloved Son, 9

Matthew 3:17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

      • Question: The first time God’s voice was heard from Heaven when Christ was on the earth, did God lie, or was He telling the truth?

Matthew 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

      • Question: The second time God spoke from Heaven when Christ was on the earth, did He lie, or was He telling the truth?

Mark 1:11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Mark 9:7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

Luke 3:22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

Luke 9:35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

Luke 20:13 Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will reverence him when they see him.

      • Question: Who was typified by the “lord of the vineyard?”

1 Corinthians 4:17 For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.

      • Question: Does the phrase “my beloved son” always have to refer to Jesus Christ?

      • Question: Was Peter rehearsing to his church a lie from God the Father?

One God, 7

Malachi 2:10 Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?

      • Question: Doesn’t the Bible say that God the Father is the Creator, having created all things by His Son? (See John 1:1-3, Ephesians 3:9, Colossians 1:12-16, Hebrews 1:1-2.)

Mark 12:32 And the scribe said unto him [Christ], Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he.

      • Question: Reading the context of this story, did Christ rebuke the scribe for not speaking correctly?

Romans 3:30 Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.

      • Question: Isn’t it true that this “one God” justifies us through His Son?

1 Corinthians 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

      • Question: Is this “one God” described by Paul made up of Father, Son, and Spirit?

Ephesians 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

      • Question: Does the phrase “Father of all” include His Son Jesus Christ?

1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

      • Question: With the understanding of 1 Corinthians 8:6 above, could the “one God” include Jesus Christ in its makeup if Jesus Christ is the mediator between God and men?

James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

      • Question: What is it that the devils believe that make them tremble?

True God, 5

2 Chronicles 15:3 Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law.

      • Question: According to Isaiah 59:1-2, what causes a man, woman, child, or even a nation to be separated from God?

Jeremiah 10:10 But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.

      • Question: Who, according to the apostle Peter, was the “living God,” to help us understand who this verse says is the “true God?” (See Matthew 16:16.)

John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

      • Question: Who was Jesus referring to when calling Him the “only true God?” (See 17:1.)

1 Thessalonians 1:9 For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God.

      • Question: Who, according to the previous verses, is the “living and true God?”

1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

      • Question: If life eternal is the “know” Him that is true (John 17:3), and we are in Him that is true—the Father (as the church of the Thessalonians was in the Father, 1 Thessalonians 1:1), “even in His Son” as the verse in question here says… shouldn’t the “true God” in this verse be referring to the Father?
